Storm Preparedness

As noted in the “legislative updates from Jim,” section, Jim also successfully demanded an investigation into the failure of National Grid to properly plan for and respond to public safety needs arising from the Dec. 26, 2010 blizzard.  This investigation included a public hearing in Scituate and resulted in a $2.25 million fine for National Grid.  Jim, having filed legislation to mandate utility company staffing levels, actively assisted local public safety professionals by working in the emergency preparedness center of both Scituate and Marshfield during Tropical Storm Irene.
